Edinburgh author Alan Cochrane's brilliant Scots comedy, set in 1919 when the town of Leith was about to reluctantly join Edinburgh. The adjoining towns co-exist in friendly rivalry with the boundary conveniently running through the middle of a pub. The McIvor and Burns families, from opposite sides of the dividing line, face with apprehension the prospect of a marriage across the boundary. Add in a Newhaven fishwife with a weakness for drink and an assistant minister who contrives to visit at the most inconvenient moments, provides the ingredients for two hours of pure enjoyment.
