Jan van Beek and Jonathan Brugh bill themselves as the Van Brugh family, and when this piece begins with them playing a very young brother and sister who talk about sucking cocks theres a certain uncomfortableness in the audience to say the least.
It soon transpires that the characters arent that young, but this piece treads an uncomfortable path between genuinely funny moments and a weird, ill-conceived tale incest. There are some genuinely shocking but laugh out loud moments (dont come anywhere near this if you are in anyway a Christian!), but also some longeurs when the plot seems to dawdle along aimlessly. Part of the problem is that though the pair are energetic and ballsy performers they certainly arent actors and the space works against the expansiveness of some of their physical stuff.. They also seem to find each other rather too amusing judging by the amount of corpsing that was going on.
If you like your comedy shocking, then this show pushes all the right buttons. But if its slick production values, professionalism and a lucid story, best not bother.
