My BF Wouldn't Buy A Stupid Window (Why I Did and Don't Regret It) is a brand new, gay rom-com about a neurodivergent queer man and his obsession over a window found in a thrift sale. The show is based on sex-icon and amateur comedian Jake Halimi's personal experiences as we follow him from his first encounter with the titular window to its tragic end (and how it almost destroyed his relationship with his boyfriend). The play centres around exploring autism, particularly hyperfixation, and feelings of self-worth. It thoughtfully and hilariously suggests how we get by when our love is an ocean away. While an absurdist (albeit true) premise, the play is about learning to respect and love your partner and the things they find interesting.
