Miss Julie, Clarissa and John
  • Edinburgh Fringe

Inspired by August Strindbergs groundbreaking 1888 naturalistic drama, Miss Julie, the action is relocated to a Reconstruction Era Virginia plantation. The dangerous attraction between the landowners daughter and his top servant takes on new shades, as its taboo nature expands from crossing boundaries of social class and encompassing racial lines. The result is an intense struggle that illuminates cultural dynamics of two key moments in American history " then and now. Written by Mark Clayton Southers. Directed by Monteze Freeland.
