The two performers Kevin McMahon and Alan Hudson take as their starting point their discovery of a book Tricks 4 Chicks: How to Pull Girls with Magic. Their aim is to learn tricks to increase their attractiveness to the opposite sex. What it says on the tin.
Taking scores out of ten from a small sample of the audience for each mans winsomeness, they then proceed to individually perform a set of tricks which have the stated above aim. There are no new ground-breaking stunts; we have all seen these feats of legerdemain or variations thereof on television if nowhere else. Some are performed more slickly than others and the final culminating gag/trick is impressively achieved.
McMahon and Hudson are a not un-engaging pair of hosts and their original given assessments of attractiveness seemed a bit harsh (shame on you, ladies) but the show had a somewhat amateur feel with the patter lacking smoothness and music cues having to be verbally nudged from the stage. It must be said that most of the audience lapped up the tricks with requisite wonderment and applause but it feels that out and out fans of either comedy or magic would surely be left rather unfulfilled. Indeed, the final lines they deliver, although presented as a joke, serve as a more cruel critique of the show than this particular venom-macerated (and magic-hating) judge can offer. You will have to buy a ticket to find out what they say.
