Love Club & Friends Brighton Creativity Retreat

We are so excited to welcome you to Love Club & Friends Brighton Creativity Retreat!

Following a sold out London event, we are back and better than ever with a full day of yoga, life-drawing, creative-writing and pottery to fill your boots with, and reignite your creative spark.

Join Polly (she/her) from Love Club, Lou Thomas (they/them) from Bits & Pieces and Megan Elliott (she/her) from Clay Wild Studio as we play with various art forms to bring you some winter joy, calm and fun.

The retreat day takes place in The Studio space in Hanover, Brighton, BN2 3PF, with plenty of space to move around.

Our aim is to allow your creativity to flow, your bodies to move a bit, and hopefully have lots of fun in the process, with lovely likeminded people.

The day will begin with a group meditation and check in, followed by a gentle but energising yoga class, led by Polly from Love Club. We've then enlisted the help of some of our amazingly talented friends...

After a coffee and some cake, Lou Thomas (they/them) will be running a Bits & Pieces Life-Drawing and Creative Writing workshop to explore and connect with ideas, self and community.

In the afternoon, Megan (she/her) from Clay Wild Studio will be taking us through an accessible pottery workshop, using hand-building techniques, helping you to connect with your own wild, and unlock your own creativity.

The whole day aims to encourage your innate creativity, meet you where you are, and show you that you (yes, you!) have endless pools of creativity.

There will be lots of breaks for coffee, tea and cake (provided), and you are welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase some nearby.

Tickets are sliding scale- if you are able to pay the supporter rate, it would allow us to have more discounted tickets, so this would be so appreciated! If you require a discounted ticket and there are none left, please get in touch at [email protected] and we will see what we can do!

Lou Thomas (they/them) is a yoga teacher, embodiment practitioner and creative arts facilitator, who helps people connect with their bodies, themselves and their communities. Their work sits at the intersection between well-being and social activism, and particularly focuses on LGBTQIA+ community building. They specialise in accessible and trauma-informed approaches to embodiment, and run playful and creative classes and workshops in Brighton and Hove.

Megan Preston Elliott (she/her) is a writer and artist based in Brighton. She is the founder of Clay Wild, a travelling pottery studio teaching classes and selling handmade ceramics. Megans mission with Clay Wild is to make pottery accessible for all, utilising air-drying clay and hand-built techniques with few tools needed. At a Clay Wild class, Megan facilitates an inclusive, calm atmosphere, helping attendees reconnect to their own wild and unlock their own creativity. Megan is trained in Fine Art and holds pottery classes for a wide range of people in different settings: corporate, schools, community, and private events. She regularly teaches queer classes in collaboration with Sappho Events at Glass House London and at The Queery, Brighton.

Love Club is a London and Brighton based organisation that runs yoga and creative wellbeing workshops. We have the core belief that everyone is inherently creative, and by tapping into your creative potential, you can spark joy, and empower yourselves and your community with love.

We cannot wait to welcome you to Brighton for a day of art, yoga, life-drawing creative writing, cake and fun.

Accessibility- Please get in touch at [email protected] with any access needs and we will do our best to meet them. It's really important to us that as many aspects of the event are as accessible as possible, from ticket pricing to the physical space, so we would love to chat to you. Please get in touch with the above email address if you require a ticket for a personal assistant or support worker.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
