Clumsy Bodies presents the UK debut of:
Iphigenia Crash Land Falls on the Neon Shell That Was Once Her Heart (A Rave Fable)
A play by Caridad Svich
Inspired by the Euripides text of Iphigenia in Aulis, this multimedia tragedy transposes the myth of the Greek heroine to an un-named South American city, where Agamemnon is now a Latin American dictator, plotting desperately to hold onto power by sacrificing his own daughter, Iphigenia.
Once a minor character, Iphigenia now takes centre stage. Previously only spoken about, or spoken for, Iphigenia finally gains a voice in this Brechtian rave, which plays out against the brutal backdrop of the Cuidad Juarez Murders. Iphigenia's dialogue is poetic; she plays around with language and form in ways that have been previously denied to her.
Can Iphigenia finally break free of the prophesied fate she was born into, of endless sacrifice and violence?
