Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's beloved collection of poetry A Child's Garden of Verses, Howard Blake's playful yet nostalgic song-cycle, The Land of Counterpane perfectly complements the 'very grown up but youthful' (BBC Radio 3) sound of the NYCoS National Girls Choir, under the direction of chorus master Christopher Bell. Perhaps best known for composing the music to the much-loved animated film, The Snowman, among numerous other film scores and orchestral pieces, Blake shows a special affinity to choral music with a beautiful and delicate arrangement that will surely invoke a sense of childlike wonder.
