Keep It Down, is a new writing piece about navigating life as a socialite whilst trying to recover from an eating disorder. The one woman play focuses on Daisy, a 23 year old singleton as she stumbles between shady one night stands, medical appointments and the snack cupboard. The show uses dark comedy to interweave between the challenges and obstacles of recuperation. Following Daisy's sporadic attempts at sustaining relationships, her sanity and weekly therapy sessions, the secrecy behind her faade begins to unravel. To leave behind negative coping mechanisms Daisy must come to terms with her past and find new ways to heal, but living in a fatphobic world that revolves around food and diet culture proves difficult. Keep It Down confronts the shame surrounding eating disorders, mental health and the unspoken novelties of ordinary life.
