Isiqalo (or beginning in Xhosa and Zulu) takes us back to South Africa under Mandelas leadership. As rural people leave their families in search of jobs, the cities begin to swell. Struggle is a constant " poverty, HIV, teenage pregnancy, and witchcraft are daily realities " but new cultural movements are born out of these urban melting pots. Incorporating traditional a cappella, instrumental South African music and Zulu dance such as gumboots and pantsula, the accomplished Champions company tell the story of their people during this remarkable time in history.
