A new play based on the true story of Wales' first working-class martyr, Dic Penderyn and the Merthyr Rising of 1831. This community-built project was written, designed, directed and cast by people from the working communities of Wales. Celebrating a pivotal moment in industrialised Britain, the project also aims to create new history by securing a posthumous pardon on the name of Richard Lewis (Dic Penderyn). Penderyn was hanged for a crime that many believe he did not commit and the final performance at the 2022 Fringe will be held 191 years to the day he was executed!
