Downtown Abbeys Marquis of Flintshire and a BAFTA-winning actor with a film and TV career spanning fifty years. Credits include Chariots of Fire, A Woman of Substance, Bean, Grantchester, Ruth Rendell, Ever Decreasing Circles and many more. A long-time animal rights activist who has campaigned internationally for animal welfare and against animal testing for medical research. In keeping with his beliefs, during the filming of Downton Abbey, Egan refused to have meat on his plate during dinner scenes or to be shown firing a gun during a hunting scene.
