Born in Scotland, Rankin spent most of his life in Canada but returned to Edinburgh in the halcyon folk days of the 1960s and 1970s. Sessions with Gaughan, Rafferty, Henderson and Jansch, solo gigs, European tours with the superb Rankin File and a compilation Greentrax album, then back to Canada and now he is returning for his first solo gig in 40 years. Impressive songs, rich Canadian voice, smooth guitar and smoother intros. 'He's still got it!' (Ian McCalman).
