I Am Going To Build A Chapel In The Woods For Every Dead Queer That History Has Forgotten And I Need Your Help
I am sorry to make another show about dead queers. But this show is about how
we remember them, and how we keep on living.
Amiot has a dead gay grandad. Or at least, he thinks he does. They definitely
know he had a fear of large fleshy leaves, but the queer part is more
complicated. Now theyre figuring out how to archive a history they barely
even have, and how we can build a lineage of queer people that history has
forgotten.
I am Going to Build a Chapel in the Woods is about dead gay grandads,
memorials made of twigs, and how we as the queer community mourn and
remember. It is a call to action to engage in queer remembrance as a radical
act - one that we can play an active role in building and rebuilding.
Amiot is a transmasc performer and theatre-maker. They performed their debut
show ANTICHRIST at Femfest last year as one of their selected early career
artists. I Am Going To Build A Chapel In The Woods has been developed through
Duckies Homosexual Summer School, Wild Rumpus, and The Wellcome Collections
