Andrew Dallmeyers Fringe First Award-winning exploration into the mind of the Surrealist genius, Salvador Dali, shocks, seduces and, most of all, utterly amuses.
A suited man, sporting the iconic moustache, sits upon a stage dressed with wired numbers, a trunk of fetishes and projected clocks. His first words are, Dali is dead. From here, the charming eccentric narrates his own resurrection and invites his audience to choose the order in which they able through his mind.
Flitting back and forth between first and third person, Tom Jude gives a flawless performance as the bizarre artist, even perfecting that eerie eyeball gaze. Dallmeyers poetic script weaves hilariously through subject headings as diverse a Childhood, Orifices and The Spanish Inquisition. The poor classroom-come-theatre in which it is performed is transformed impressively through a combination of beautiful lighting design and a fittingly surreal set. The result is a hallucinatory hour of humour, sense and madness that may cause you to look for lobsters in your own subconscious.
