Scottish early guitar/lute specialist and composer Gordon Ferries plays solos by the great 19th-century guitarist/composer Mauro Giuliani including Le Bouquet Emblematique (where each beautiful piece represents a different flower); popular Handel arrangements (Harmonious Blacksmith); and melodic Airs Irlondois Nationales. Soprano Petrea Cooney interprets Gordon's own Stanzas for Music: a song cycle on poems by Shelley, Coleridge, Byron and Keats; and his Joyce Songs (first performance) based on Joyce's Chamber Music, published 1907. Gordon and Petrea, who often appear as the duo La Seraphine, regularly delight audiences with their unique, evocative fusion of music and literature.
