Gasping is Elton's first play and was written in the late eighties as a satire on bottled water. A corporation discovers a machine designed to suck in polluted air and blow out pure air. The financial benefits of designer air is clear, yet the greed leads to environmental disaster. It is a comedy, in the style you would expect from Ben Elton.
