A coming of age at its most absurd...Ahem. Welcome. We are about to travel thousands of miles to a place called Bass Rock. A deserted island in the North Sea. A cold, harsh, weather-beaten place. Where survival is a luxury, and peril routine. A place where you might think, no creature could live. But, if you look closely, somewhere in this dank dark cave, youll find a strange creature nesting. This is Gannet, a half-girl half-bird with a bad attitude and mummy issues. Doomed to live in the shadow of her perfect sister, Gannet prefers the quite life, opting for her sketchbook rather than exploring the treacherous waves of the North Sea. Much to the dismay of her mother, who quite frankly, wants a break. But tonight, something changed, forcing Gannet to leave behind her smelly chambers and make a name for herself in the big smoke. Gannet is a coming-of-age story with an absurdist twist. Part clown, part character comedy, written and performed by Daisy Day and directed by Peggy Pollard 'Gannet' is Fat Crow Productions Camden Fringe debut. It combines a hilariously disgusting protagonist with artfully constructed costume designed by artists Cailin Cummins and Sally Plowman. A show about proving your worth, the complexities of mother-daughter relationships, and the chaos and confusion of adulting as young smelly women. Will Gannet achieve the impossible and prove her mother wrong? Youll have to wait and see... Fat Crow productions is the brainchild of writers Peggy Pollard and Daisy Day. The two first started working together in Bristol, where Day designed the set for Pollard's play 'The Ponds', which was received with rave reviews. One critic describing it as a perfect fusion of comedy and meaning.
