FemFestive Fundraiser
  • Brighton

Well, mince our pies and jingle our bells, its the first-ever FemFestive Fundraiser!

FemFest, Brightons only arts festival that advocates for and showcases the work of women, trans and non-binary performers, needs your help. We want to bring back FemFest bigger and better than ever before in 2023, and having been entirely self-funded up until now, we need your help to make it happen. Proceeds from the event will be going to ensure that the festival is economically accessible for artists and audiences. We'll be providing free tickets for service users of Survivors' Network and LGBT Switchboard and absorbing marketing, print, and production costs for our artists - we need help to secure this.

Well be holding a very jolly, very merry all-day-long Christmas fundraiser at the Actors on the 18th of December to get you in the Christmas spirit and closer to running FemFest in March.

Join us from 3 pm where well be holding a mini festive party with Christmas crafts, festive drinks, and a raffle. Youll be able to feast your eyes over our raffle prizes, donated by some of Brighton & Hoves best, and can buy yourself a ticket or 10 to enter the prize draw. Well be serving up mince pies and festive tipples so that everyone can start feeling the Christmas cheer. This part of the event is free and no ticket is needed!

*this part of the event is wheelchair accessible - no step access and there is a disabled toilet nearby.

From 7 pm, well be transforming the upstairs of The Actors into the Christmas cabaret of dreams. Well be joined by some of our favourite performers of FemFest Past and FemFest future for a night that is sure to be as camp as Christmas. Keep your eyes peeled for the full lineup, which will be announced soon. This part of the event is ticketed, with all proceeds going to support next year's festival.

*this part of the event is not wheelchair accessible, there are 16 steps up a narrow corridor and there is not an accessible toilet, unfortunately.

We know that times are tough right now, and appreciate any donation, no matter how big or how small, so that we can continue our work in platforming and empowering performers who are often some of the most overlooked. We believe in the power of community. If you want to learn more about what our plans are for FemFest 2023 and what your donations would be supporting, then click here.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
