Set aboard a convict ship on its way to Australia, Steve Gooch's stark, hard-hitting drama tells the story of six female convicts on their six-month journey and their determination to survive the conditions below the decks. Convicted of petty crimes in 19th-century London and sentenced to hard labour in Australia, they were condemned and abused due to the bias of the male dominated class system. This re-imagining of the original play questions whether things have really changed.
