Felix & Friends: Spring It On!

Spring has sprung, and so have I!
And havent I gathered a gorgeous gaggle of gardenias for you?

Brightons most chaotic cabaret returns with another night of high-camp, high-energy, all-thrills nonsense. Expect drag, comedy, clowning, and theatrical absurdity. You're guaranteed to leave laughing, crying, or wielding some questionable gardening tips.

Our lineup is bursting into bloom.

Gaylien De Mars is a sci-fi drag shapeshifter whose performances defy convention. Winner of Brightons TITANS competition, they bring surreal, boundary-pushing artistry to the stage. Expect transformation, expect concept, expect the unexpected.

William Stone is an absurdist stand-up whose mind moves at a slightly different frequency to the rest of us. A BBC New Comedy Award finalist, he specialises in surreal non-sequiturs and perfectly crafted weirdness. You're going to love it.

Enriquo Touch is a master of physical comedy. Their work is all about the ridiculous, the sublime and the clowny.
The Scotsman calls them delightful. You can call them whatever you like, as long as you applaud.

Matthew Ali is a storytelling comic with a sharp wit, a big heart, and a habit of oversharing. A Queerovision winner and Comedy Virgins Max Turner Prize finalist, his stand-up is lively, personable, and occasionally bordering on too much information.

Were taking over Tusk Club, downstairs at The Walrus, Brighton, on Friday 21st March. Doors at 7pm, show at 7:30pm sharp. The venue serves food and drinks all evening, so why not make a night of it? The show will feature two intervals, giving you time to top up your glass, compose yourself, and question your life choices. Wrap time is 10pm, but the space turns into a club, so stick around if you fancy a dance. It's always a low-stakes affair and we want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable.

Tickets are tiered, so the earlier you grab yours, the more you save. Earlybird tickets start at 6 and last-minute entry will be 12. As always, a limited number of pay-what-you-can tickets are available to ensure accessibility for all. And if youre feeling generous, you can buy a pay-it-forward ticket to help support queer cabaret and keep these nights affordable.

Felix & Friends is a night of theatrical mischief, queer joy, and total nonsense. Expect laughs, spectacle, and the occasional raid from special intelligence. Audience participation is encouraged in the form of cheers, whoops, and giggles. However, hateful or disruptive behaviour will get you turned into compost.

I'm buzzing my tits off. How about you?

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
