Inspired by Sophocles Greek tragedy by the same name, Electra explores the theme of a complex mother-daughter relationship by showcasing a series of therapy sessions the main character must go through, as well as her struggles to relate to another female character. Whilst the protagonist has to go through certain hardships with her therapist, the overall message of the play is that therapy is good and necessary, and should be destigmatised.
