High-school teachers by day, DJ Danny and his glamorous assistant (the P.E. Master) really only come out to play at night. This is essentially the revenge of the geek, as DJ Danny dons the white trackie-bottoms, spins up the decks, fires up the PowerPoint, and takes us through an hour of music-as-therapy for the woes of the world.
Youll be asked to complete a questionnaire on the way in detailing your current worries, and these are woven into the show, creating a new rap each night to address the audiences concerns (he dealt very nicely with a shoe fetishist the night I saw him).
Make sure you get there early to avoid the extreme side seats, as these are unable to see the projected lyrics and graphics that form so much of the show.
Theres a lot of good one-liners in here, and James Blunt comes in for an enjoyable amount of stick (well after all, they are trying to show that music can make you happy). Throw in some decent upbeat tracks, an impressive use of live sampling and onscreen editing of lyrics, and DJ Danny creates a pleasant enough late night set which kept everyone amused. Its a solid three-star experience for anyones money, but I was left with a dull, nagging feeling that this was a great original comedy idea which was somehow not being exploited to its full.
