Diane Spencer: Exquisite Bad Taste

Diane Spencer bursts onto the stage and within seconds stuns the audience into shocked silence with her new show Exquisite Bad Taste. To be honest that is exactly what this show is, with added glitter and special effects.

Diane spends the hour spinning a web of slightly sick but always hilarious stories, each an instance in which her bad taste has got her into sticky social situations over the years. We are taken through a ménage of bad fancy dress choices, tales of unusual sexual encounters - always instigated by Diane - and are even introduced to alter ego, 'drunk Di.' Although most stories are likely to make audience members, young and old alike, cringe and squirm in their seats, they are all pulled off with such charm that it doesn't really matter.

The show as a whole is well crafted and without a dull moment; stories are masterfully interwoven and witticisms are sprinkled throughout. If anything is to be taken away from this wholeheartedly light and funny show, it is that Diane is slightly unhinged - in a good way - and really does have exquisite bad taste.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

The Blurb

Award-winning comedian Diane Spencer returns with her hilarious new show about perspective. Part autobiography, all comedy from a rising star compared to Joan Rivers and Sarah Millican. 'Raucously entertaining' (Chortle.co.uk). 'Indiscreetly brilliant' (Scotsman). Possibly offensive.
