We find Lila alone in a hospital for the criminally insane in 1928. Abandoned by her family, society, and her only friend in the asylum, she is forced to face her deepest secrets and the dark reality of the events leading up to her imprisonment. Confronting her circumstances with levity, innocence, and a strong sense of denial, Lila takes us on a journey full of playful poetry and vivid trauma until she's forced to confront the reality of her fate. This original one-woman show presents us with questions about mental health, incarceration, sexuality, and the institutional suppression of the female voice. Back after a successful Edinburgh Fringe run, we're thrilled to be bringing this piece to the stage for the International Women's Day Festival. Indigo Arts Collective is celebrating International Women's Day with a festival of original new work written and performed by women from across the country and around the globe. From thoughtful and funny to provocative and experimental, there's truly something for everyone. Come celebrate women's stories with us! Latecomers may not be admitted. Please arrive in good time for the start. Under 18s are not permitted into the theatre for this performance. No re-admittance once the performance has commenced. Refunds and exchanges are not available.
