The play explores one newly-married couple's attempts to get pregnant and how this journey is determined by external pressures and societal demands. Overwhelmed by expectation, XX is forced to face herself, what she wants and what her body's capable of. The expectation to procreate begins to weigh heavy on their relationship. As we get to know XX and XY they move further apart from one another, allowing us to re-evaluate the necessity for couples to have children in the day to day that we know. Combining monologue and dialogue this play stages a contemporary female experience.
