Blizzard Comedy presents: previews by Hannah Platt and Josh Jones
  • UK Regional & Tours

Fringe season is well underway and we are pumped to have another pair of incredible performers heading to our stage to showcase their all new work-in-progress shows.

Join us at Gullivers on Monday 3rd June for some of the most exciting new shows the fringe is likely to see this year, featuring...

Hannah Platt
"Voice of a generation" (The Skinny) Hannah Platt is an honest, frank and distinctive new comic with an unflinching outlook on the world and, after a diagnosis of body dysmorphia, how the world looks back at her.

Often acerbic and never shying away from sensitive topics, Hannah asks why we keep people at arms length, whats so humiliating about being sincere, and are you really a people pleaser if no one is pleased?

Nominated Best debut show, Leicester Comedy Festival
BBC New Comedy Awards Finalist
As seen on BBC Three and BBC Radio 4
Tour support for Fern Brady, Lou Sanders and Kiri Pritchard-McLean

and Josh Jones
After his hilarious debut TV appearances on E4s 8 Out of 10 Cats and ITVs Jonathan Ross Comedy Club, Josh has gone on to host BBC Threes Fast Food Face-Off and make guest appearances on Channel 4s 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, ITV2s Iain Stirlings CelebAbility, E4s Reality News, Sky Maxs Dating No Filter, Daves Late Night Mash, and Comedy Centrals Undeniable, Guessable, Rhod Gilberts Growing Pains and Comedy Central Live. Josh recently made his debut appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show.

Josh co-hosts the Dave original podcast series Hard Sell with Darren Harriott. He also hosts his own historical gossip podcast Dead Drama, and the Chatting with Cherubs podcast with Morgan Rees.

In 2022 Josh was nominated for Best Newcomer at Daves Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his critically acclaimed sell-out show Waste of Space. He was previously a finalist for the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award, which he subsequently went on to judge on BBC Three. Josh was also nominated for Outstanding On-Screen Talent Featured in a Production at the 2022 Royal Television Society Northern Ireland Awards for hosting Fast Food Face-Off for BBC Three.

"Josh is purely about entertaining and making his audience laugh for an hour" - One4Review

"His material is hilarious, as is the delivery, and his stage presence is so upbeat and bright that you can't help but hang on his every word" - Entertainment Now

"Full of confidence, Josh has a presence on stage that's rare to find in a comedian so early on in their career and has the audience hanging on his every word, and crucially, laughing very loudly along with what he has to say" - I Talk Telly

As always, our tickets are free to book at point of sale, although we will be taking donations by both cash and card on the door, which will be entirely split between performers.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
