Blizzard Comedy LIVE, featuring Tom Mayhew
  • UK Regional & Tours

Another month, another Blizzard Comedy line-up of incredible performers converging on Gulliver's in the Northern Quarter. We're pumped for this show and we would love to see your face there!

Come along and see...

Headline act
Tom Mayhew
Tom Mayhew is a critically acclaimed comedian, whose material about being working-class mixing the personal, the silly and the political, with the punchline-rate of a one-liner comic sets him apart from any other act on the circuit. His 2019 Edinburgh show I, Tom Mayhew, about being someone in their 20s living on benefits in austerity Britain, received 4 and 5 star reviews across the board, and transferred to a sell-out Soho Theatre run.
He adapted this show for his own radio series - Tom Mayhew is Benefit Scum - which aired on BBC Radio 4 in March 2021. It was also critically acclaimed, somehow receiving 4 stars in The Daily Mail! The show returned for a 2nd series in 2022.

"Mayhew is passionate, articulate and above all else hilarious. His jokes are punchy, sharp and forthcoming. Despite the often weighty subject matter, laughs are never too far apart. Mayhews comedic voice should be heard, even if you dont want to hear it." - The Skinny
"Quite simply an absolute gem of a performance." - Edit
"This is political comedy from a fresh and necessary perspective" - The Wee Review
"Tory-Hating Leftie" - The Daily Mail

With support from
Bella Humphries
Bella is a comedian, actor and dungaree wearer. She oozes charm in a cheeky sort of way (Blizzard Comedy) as she recounts tales of moving to Wales and asking the age old question... who exactly am I? As heard on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Sounds. Bella has supported Kiri Pritchard-McLean on tour and is a rising star on the comedy circuit.

Stuart Dunlop
Part comedian, part improviser, and described as "like a British Steve Buscemi", Stuart Dunlop started his comedy career on the Berlin improv scene. In addition to successful stand-up across the North of England, he is also a co-host of "The Alternative Cobra Meeting Comedy Quiz" and "Forbidden Playroom", and the creator/writer of the surreal podcast "Kio & Maxi's Adventures in Everything".

"Clever and well-composed, Stuart will have you laughing all the way through his set, and then again later when you get the jokes you missed." - Yellow Arch Comedy Club

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.
