Home. Singapore. Departure. Arrival. London. Home. 'Im Z, short form for a name that you probably cant pronounce and Im trying to find my place in the world.' Bhumi (Sanskrit for earth or soil) is a multi-disciplinary theatrical performance by a collective of Singapore Malay artists based in London. They are at the crossroads of their artistic identity, wrangling with questions about traditions, race, culture and identity while living a contemporary lifestyle in a home away from home. Bhumi addresses what it means to be Melayu (Malay) through a marriage of traditional and contemporary Malay dance forms.
