Back the budding comics standing up for charity. Have youheard the one about the gutsy amateurs taking tips from the pros to try theirhand at stand-up comedy - to help save lives?
Well, the punch line is that it's true, and it's
coming tothe Studio at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre later this
year.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is once again challengingthe region's wannabe comics who think they're hilarious to get up on stage andprove it, while raising funds for its vital work.
The charity is teaming up with The Comedy Trust to bring theBeyond a Joke Comedy Gala to the theatre. Our brave volunteers will work withprofessional comedians to craft a quality comedy set,
so all who attend are sure of a great night.
Graphic designer Ricky Williams, of Everton, took part inlast year's event, and went down a storm.
He said, "Yes, I was absolutely terrified. But when
theadrenalin kicked in, I was off and running, and I enjoyed every second of
it.
''The training from the professionals was amazing, and
itall came together on the night. I think someone even laughed in the
rightplaces! It's a brilliant experience and helps a great charity
too."
The event is open to all, but the nature of the materialmeans that it will only be suitable for people aged 18 or over.
