After introducing himself four times Arnie Pie gave a bit about his stage name before launching into the set that can define the rest of his show in two words: racial comedy. If you can leave every politically correct part of you at the door you’ll be able to enjoy this act. Arnie Pie himself is an Australian with a Thai background and he milks this for all it is worth with a multitude of voices and accents. His favourite imitation and constant inspiration for his material is his Asian father, who he does a hilarious impression of.
When these jokes get a little old he starts throwing in immature gags about poo and wanking. This is great if you have laddish guy humour and he has charming confidence to go with it. However, he doesn’t engage the audience very much in improvised riffing, his punchlines instead neatly finishing with caps that round his jokes together.
He moves through his gags with just enough time for you to spend a moment laughing before he launches into the next set, also about Asians and Australians. It’s a pleasure to hear his sharp Australian voice whip through his set, and overall it is a very enjoyable show. If you enjoy funny voices, lots of pointing, lad jokes and anything that insults Australians or Asians, you should definitely check it out.
