BACK TO BLEDI
  • London Fringe

BLEDI invite you to Back to Bledi - a retro-themed takeover of the Glory in Haggerston!

Our 2 part takeover will begin with a show celebrating QTIBPOC performers and drag artists (limited tickets available - includes afterparty), and the after party will have us shaking our hips over two floors with DJs from across the SWANA region, playing club and party anthems on the ground floor and SWANA bangers underground (free entry before 10, 10 OTD after).

Non-QTIBPOC allies are welcomed and encouraged to pay for the higher entry fee. Reminder that this is a space prioritising QTIBPOC, be aware of the space you are taking. We will be allocating a small number of tickets for people who are low income (priority will be given to refugees and asylum seekers), please email [email protected] to arrange this.

Bledi is The Queer SWANA Art Rave, a dedicated collective and night out centring QTIBPOC (Queer, Trans/Non-Binary, and/or Intersex, Black people and People of Colour) from the SWANA region (South West Asia/North Africa - commonly referred to as 'the Middle East'). Bledi (Arabic for My Homeland) has created a space for SWANA Queers to celebrate our lives and showcase our talents, as underrepresented artists of typically marginalised backgrounds.

Performances by: Jinn Alhijra, Lujane Oud, Turkish D'light, Minara El Waters, and Tahini Molasses

DJ sets by: Envie, Habibtati, Seksu, Tobre

Glory Doors: 5pm

Bledi Show: 8-9pm

Afterparty: 9-3am

Please note The Glory is a queer venue run by queer people, for queer people and their allies. We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny and discrimination of any kind. Be respectful or you will be asked to leave. Strictly no office, hen or stag parties allowed.

ACCESSIBILITY:

The Glory is a very old building with pre-existing accessibility issues and while weve strived to make the space user friendly, there is no easy wheelchair accessibility to all areas of the venue.

MAIN BAR ACCESSIBILITY:

The main bar is accessible, though the toilets are up a flight of 3 stairs with a handrail. Wheelchairs cannot access the toilets however. There is a local restaurant a few doors down who have an accessible toilet that they are happy for our customers to use.

BASEMENT ACCESSIBILITY:

To access shows in the basement there is a narrow flight of 12 stairs with a handrail.

SEATING:

The main bar has plenty of seats and tables. Ticketed shows are seated unless otherwise stated.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
