American violist Christine Rutledge returns to the Fringe with her new multimedia program combining music by Bach with newly commissioned works by poets from Detroit, Rutledge's first home. This program brings new perspectives to this timeless music. Rutledge, a specialist in the performance of Bach's solo works for strings, will perform selected slow dances from the solo suites and sonatas. The poems will be recited by the authors via video projection. This performance will explore the interaction of very old and very new and how language and music are naturally intertwined.
