Bachs organ music shows a wealth of foreign stimuli, but it is arguably Italys composers and style that made the greatest impression on him. In arrangements of complete concertos by Vivaldi, or his use of themes by Corelli and Legrenzi as fugue subjects, or more generally, in the mood and character of his toccatas, Bach creates some of his finest music under an Italian influence. In the stunning acoustics of Canongate Kirk, David Hamilton plays a wide selection of these works on the churchs superb Frobenius organ.
