This production is a set of four or five unconnected stories about love, enjoyed, gained, lost and destroyed. It is written and performed by students from Yucaipa High School, Yucaipa, California.
Each piece is a monologue and is performed by its writer. It tells the story of a relationship; of a wife and her husband; of a young child and his mother; of a teenager and her parents. In each case the shadow of death is present. Within the short time that each piece lasts such a clear picture is drawn that the audience feels a complete understanding of the relationship and the pain of its ending.
The writing of these pieces is first-rate, particularly given the ages of the writers and the fact that the events described are so far outside their own experiences. Their performances are also extremely convincing.
This is a moving and meaningful production. Well worth seeing.
