Artist Conversation: Life is a Dream at The Hub listing on Broadway Baby

The creatives behind this years production of Life is a Dream discuss working across different languages and cultures.

Director Declan Donnellan and designer Nick Ormerod are co-founders of the international theatre company Cheek by Jowl. Since forming in 1981, Cheek by Jowl has performed in more than 50 countries, with productions in English, French, Russian and Italian.

This year they return to the International Festival to present Pedro Caldern la Barcas Life is a Dream. Performed by an ensemble of Spanish actors, this marks Cheek by Jowl's first Spanish-language production. It comes after many years of bringing their work to Spain and forming connections with Spanish performers and practitioners.

Donnellan and Ormerod chat with Spanish interpreter Juan Ollero about international collaboration in theatre. The event will be chaired by Beth Blakemore, PhD researcher in Hispanic Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
