  • UK Regional & Tours

Widely regarded as one of the hottest comedy nights among the Arab community and beyond! Arabs Are Not Funny sees comedians with roots in the Arab world attempt to prove the naysayers wrong! (Time Out) You might have thought that Arabs couldn't get any funnier. Think again. The funniest Arab comedians in London are coming to Liverpool, in the flesh, funnier than ever before at the Royal Court Studio. This special edition of Arabs Are Not Funny is performed by four Arab comedians as part of Liverpool Arab Arts Festival 2023. Esther Manito A Lebanese-British stand-up comedian and winner of Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival. After reaching the finals of So You Think You're Funny and the Funny Women awards, her debut solo show led toan appearance on Live at the Apollo (BBC Two). Fatiha El Ghorri A British-Moroccan writer, actor and regular on the UK comedy circuit. Her observational stand-up and wonderful witticism take you on a whirlwind journey that pulls apart and challenges Muslim stereotypes. When she is not doing stand-up, you may see Fatiha on your TV screens, including The Jonathan Ross Show and Russell Howard Comedy Hour. Farah Sharp An English-Egyptian comedian based in London. She has performed around the UK as well as in Sydney, Australia. Her stand-up is a mix of quirky opinions and anecdotes, often based around her upbringing or relationshipsand what she has (or hasn't!) learnt from them. Talal Karkouti British-born, Syrian-bred Talal brings stand-up and music together in a gloriously furious and raucous way. Talal took to lockdown very well. Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
