A supremely accomplished Wagnerian, US soprano Christine Goerke has stunned audiences as Brnnhilde in the International Festivals on-going Ring cycle. She returns to the role in the culminating Gtterdmmerung in the Usher Hall on 25 August.
With an opulent, thrillingly powerful voice of breathtaking intensity, she also sings with enormous control and subtlety. This intimate recital offers the rare opportunity to experience Goerkes remarkable vocal skills up close, in a personal selection of her favourite songs.
She is joined by Edinburgh-born Malcolm Martineau, in the richly coloured Romanticism of works by Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Duparc.
