In what is becoming a summer tradition, this beloved troupe returns to Lincoln Center with four programs of new and classic repertory. Highlights include the company premiere of "Awassa Astrige/Ostrich" (1932) by Asadata Dafora, who was born in Sierra Leone and one of the first artists to bring West African dance to the Western concert stage. New productions of Hans van Manen's "Polish Pieces" and David Parsons's "Caught," a solo powered by strobe lights, will be unveiled, in addition to a premiere by the West Coast choreographer Robert Moses.
