Handel's great attempt at reviving Italian opera in London is the first part of Joyce DiDonato's Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall. Sorcery ought not be constrained to the plot, or to Ms. DiDonato's performance, as the English Concert and its conductor, Harry Bicket, assemble a cast that includes Alice Coote (Ruggiero), Anna Christy (Soprano), Christine Rice (Bradamente) and Ben Johnson (Oronte).
