Alastair Savage is one of Scotland's most versatile fiddle performers. A prizewinner on traditional Scots fiddle, he has played throughout the world as a member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and other leading instrumental ensembles.This exciting collaboration with pianist and accordion player Gregor Blamey of the Scottish Tango Ensemble focuses on 18th-century Scottish fiddle music by Niel Gow and Robert Mackintosh alongside melodies tracing the centuries old Scots immigration to Ireland and the American Appalachians. Alongside this, folk inspired sounds from mainland Europe including music by celebrated Hungarian composer Bela Bartok.
