Taking you from zero to drag king at your own pace with everything you need to know to get you started on your drag king journey, on demand, in one place, the course is packed with even more insights and information presented by some of Scotlands best drag kings!

Designed with accessibility, inclusivity and diversity in mind, this premium Free Your Inner King online drag king course is presented in a modular format with over ten hours of learning content, including 6+ hours of captioned videos in bite sized lessons, plus a wealth of additional insider information and resources on some of the most common practices, tips and tricks for both on and off stage, what common mistakes could look like, how to avoid them, and what you could do instead!

What youll learn

Develop and apply your new skills with optional activities and homework, and earn your Certificate by completing the quizzes throughout the course which takes you through a total of 8 thoroughly comprehensive modules which you can complete in any order:

MODULE 1: The Drag Kingdom

Start with a good foundation and find out what exactly is a drag king, explore our long history and the exciting realm of drag kings today!

MODULE 2: Makeup

Discover drag king makeup kit essentials, experiment with step by step tutorials on a variety of makeup techniques, including contouring and highlighting for different skin tones, faking facial hair, and important things to avoid.

MODULE 3: Body Illusion

Learn about different ways to make your body appear more stereotypically masculine and how to move with this new appearance and gain an insight into packing, chest contouring, and different styles of masculine movement.

MODULE 4: Persona and Genre

How to go about creating your new drag persona and deciding what style of performance might be right for you, building your backstory, choosing your drag king name, as well as important things to bear in mind.

MODULE 5: Movement and Music

Further development of your drag persona by exploring the use of space with an emphasis on movement for different bodies and abilities, how music can influence your performances and what you might do if you cant hear the music!

MODULE 6: Costuming

A deep dive into the different things that can influence your costuming decisions and options; various techniques for creating your costume, how to make it wearable and make it drag, including sewing basics, breakaway costume secrets, as well as a look at props, wigs and hairstyling.

MODULE 7: Stage Presence

How to put everything youve learned so far together to develop compelling and unique acts; practical tips and tricks to help build stage presence and gain the confidence to bring your drag persona to the stage; how to become a master storyteller, make an unforgettable entrance, and suggestions for managing low confidence, nervousness, and mistakes.

MODULE 8: What Now?! Pro Tips

In this final module find out what real life steps you can now take to get started on your Drag King career, including a deeper look at the process of creating acts and how to make them as accessible as possible, tips on navigating the often chopping waters of a local drag scene, ways you can use social media to your advantage as a drag performer, getting booked and getting paid!
