2023 Holiday Potluck Party
  • London Fringe

We started Glass Closet Events in January of 2023 and are so proud of how far we have come, the beautiful events we have created, and the connections that have been made. We would like to invite everyone to join us for a community potluck party to close out the year, and for us to share in good company and good food together.

This is a great opportunity for those who may not be returning home for the holidays who are looking to make new queer pals in London, or are looking for a cozy place to celebrate with their existing circle.

For the potluck party we ask that everyone bring a small dish to share (ideally serving 8-12 people). We ask that you bring a copy of the recipe (or ingredients list, if purchasing something pre-made) so everyone can be aware of potential allergens. Avoid nuts and shellfish as they are common severe allergens. Use the potluck sign-up spreadsheet to indicate the item you wish to bring so we can keep the dishes balanced. We will provide the serving tools, napkins, silverware, and plates/bowls.

No outside beverages are permitted! Please purchase your drinks from The Glitch as they are a queer friendly, non-profit creative space that has been kind enough to offer us room for free for this event during the busy holiday season, which allows us to make this a pay-what-you-can event. They offer hot drinks, alcohol-free and alcoholic options.

At 7:30 we will be doing a round of holiday bingo with prizes! Prizes include free drinks, ticket vouchers for future events, homemade goods, and more!

Following bingo will be festive music, mingling, and board/card games. Feel free to break into a round of Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens, or the classic Uno. We also have icebreaker games, conversation starters, and trivia.

If you would like to volunteer to help us run this event by setting up, serving food, scanning tickets, or hosting bingo - please send us a DM!

This event is intended for queer folks age 18+.

Seating is first-come, first-served, but everyone will have a seat. Limited tickets are available - get yours early! We have several festive events on this holiday season!More EventsJoin our WhatsApp Community

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
