The Poets are Coming: Matthew Harvey

What do people need to know about you?

My Edinburgh cherry will be bursting all over these famous streets.

I’m not that Matthew Harvey. I’m this Matthew Harvey. Originally from Yorkshire, I now call New Zealand home. I’m an MC at Auckland spoken word institution Poetry Live and was a finalist in the 2015 NZ Raw Comedy Quest. My Edinburgh cherry will be bursting all over these famous streets.

What are you up to this Fringe?

In between walking, flyering, weeping, worrying, laughing, drinking, maybe sleeping, watching, definitely learning & walking, I will be performing my show Matthew Harvey is… Dangerman! “A steadily paced romp through a stand up poetry world” at the Banshee Labyrinth as part of the PBH Free Fringe. I will also be spending the vast majority of the Fringe hoping that Sepp Blatter stays alive. (If you want to find out why, just come along.) Also my lifting skills are required to set and strike the stage for my fiancee’s show Promise & Promiscuity: A New Musical by Jane Austen & Penny Ashton (I’m hoping to get brownie points for the plug). With it being my first Edinburgh Fringe experience I have no expectation or idea of just what I could actually end up doing.

What else are you going to see?

I reckon it’ll be a case of seeing whatever takes my fancy at the time but I’m hoping to see a many and varied list of weird and wonderful things.
