The London production of Aladdin is set to close following a run of over three years at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Aladdin is booking at the Prince Edward Theatre until 31st August 2019

The musical is making way for another Disney musical, Mary Poppins, which will open in autumn 2019.

Aladdin, which has music by Alan Menken, and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, will play its final performance at the theatre on 31st August 2019.

On opening, the musical starred Dean-John Wilson in the title role, Jade Ewen as Jasmine and Trevor Dion Nicholas as the Genie - a role he is still currently playing. The show currently stars Matthew Croke in the lead role, and Michael James Scott, who has temporarily swapped with Nicholas who takes on the role in Broadway.

Set in the fictional city of Agrabah, the story follows a man granted three wishes by a genie, which he uses to charm a Princess and overthrow a sultan.

Based on the 1992 animated film, which featured the voices of Robin Williams and Scott Weinger, the production features songs such as A Whole New World, Friend Like Me, and Somebody’s Got Your Back.

Aladdin is booking at the Prince Edward Theatre until 31st August 2019.
