Victoria Jeffrey: Dancing With Jack

Previously known for her well received part as a Totally Naff Tart, this is Victoria Jeffrey solo and talking about life. She is a seasoned actress and producer but this venture is all new for her combining character, storytelling and original songs. She tells me the experience has been quite daunting and with just two previews this piece continues to develop. Still adding new aspects and self criticising we see an approach rarely seen at the Fringe where the finished product aims for perfection. With no crew or publicist this has been quite a journey so far so the person handing you the flyer is the writer, producer and performer embracing the wonderful world of solo fringe.

The humour is universal

Delivered with the wit of a well seasoned raconteur she immediately gets the audience onside with stories of her relationship break up, dating and career. I so wanted this to be autobiographical as it was hilarious at times, reflective in parts and all delivered with great timing and honesty. There are props to illustrate the stories along the way and of course live music with her own songs. Many can relate to the life experiences described and in songs like The Smell Of Your Feet and Sporting Widow can be entertaining too with the sentiments. Who is the Dancing With Jack figure? Well I am reluctant to spoil the plot or the scenarios within except to say we all have a ‘Jack’ in our lives and those of a certain age will feel synergy here. Meanwhile the humour is universal and I can see this develop further. Her Victoria Wood style delivery would certainly lend itself to an extended show with more music or video inserts and even a sitcom could result with the theme explored deeper.

However this show develops it is certainly worth getting along to see and such is the prolific nature of the artist she will take this further and I do expect more to come.
