Inspired by the blistering 2007 film This Is England, this hard-hitting new play examines working class life in early 80's Yorkshire through the eyes of a 12-year-old boy who becomes embroiled with two very different skinhead gangs. Using a cast of 10 talented young people, this coming of age tale explores friendship and humour as well as the bitter frustrations and violence of the era. Set against the political landscape of Thatcher's Britain with rising xenophobia and mass unemployment, this is a sobering, powerful commentary on the harsh reality of racism which has equal resonance today.
