Slightly Fat Features in VarietySoup

Goronwhy Thom bursts through a film screen on stage after some very clever filmography and you just know that this group is taking it back to basics. From three way juggling to games such as ‘Find the Lady’, the group prove that in this day and age one doesn’t have to rely on special effects and fancy gadgets to provide fun for all ages. Although a little rough around the edges, they nevertheless impress with their ability to turn bloopers into funny one-liners.

There may not be anything wholly unique in the acts of this performance, but the different personalities combined and their relentless enthusiasm revives these old tricks, bringing the show to life and delivering buckets of fun.

The group maintain their pace and energy throughout and their clear love of what they do is infectious. Each of them have the skill and ability required to entertain both adults and children simultaneously through their mixture aforementioned improvised one-liners and rude, childish humour which never fails to bring a smile or a laugh. What is truly great about this show is its absurdist nature. From a man wrapping himself in cling film to a song about ‘Hot Beans’, the shown remains random and unpredictable, creating an anything may happen environment.

There may not be anything wholly unique in the acts of this performance, but the different personalities combined and their relentless enthusiasm revives these old tricks, bringing the show to life and delivering buckets of fun. A little more participation for the children would have been nice but nevertheless whether you are old or young, I dare you not to be charmed by this zany group.
