Hailing from Australia, Liz Skitch comes on stage with her accordion covering her lingerie-clad body. Five minutes later she’s naked on a chair, the squeeze-box now hiding her squeeze-boxes. So just your normal night in Edinburgh then. Liz puts on quite the performance and has an infectious personality which makes you want her to succeed, yet sadly she falls just short of the mark. There is a great 20 minutes hiding in this 55 minute show. The gimmick is a clever idea but one that just doesn’t stretch over a long period of time, meaning Skitch Tease beings to feel very repetitive. The constant oomp-ah oomp-ah during the comedy sections beings to grate as the jokes get thinner and thinner, and the comedy songs start to waver away from comedy to just songs. However likable Skitch is, she needs some stronger material to back her up. As a show it’s far from terrible, but feels misplaced. One could see Liz storming it in a short cabaret club spot - there’s some fantastic material on her mother and a couple of strong comedy songs. It’s a sassy and sexy show which just doesn’t quite deliver.
