Django Reinhardt was a musical genius and his influence on generations of guitarists has been immense. In 1930s Paris, the young gypsy guitarist created many of the sounds and techniques that we now think of as 'the sound of the guitar'. An unpredictable character who cared nothing for money or social constraints, Django would often send a band member to impersonate him for a concert he had been booked for, so he could go fishing or play billiards.
